If you’re looking to take a short break in the lap of nature, head over to Langkawi in Malaysia. This tropical island has the best of everything nature offers. From lush green rainforests to pristine white beaches. Lofty mountains, clear blue skies, and turquoise blue waters. It has the best of everything.

If you visit between January and March, you are likely to get a lot of suns and practically no rain. However, if you prefer a slightly cooler weather, April to August is a good time though you might encounter occasional showers. The best way to get there is to take a flight from Kuala Lumpur.
Due to its diverse features, Langkawi has a lot to offer tourists. However, in this article, I’m going to share 5 of the best attractions of the island that you shouldn’t miss.

1. Oriental Village

Oriental Village is a quaint little marketplace located in the foothills of Mt. Machincang. It has the cutest of souvenir shops you’ll ever see. There are many eateries and cafes here along with options for outdoor activities such as Zorbing.

You can buy tickets to the Langkawi Cable Car (also known as SkyCab) at the Oriental Village. It is a ride that I would strongly recommend, especially for the spectacular views you get to see. The SkyCab will take you to the viewing platforms to the SkyBridge. You can get a gorgeous view of the entire island from up there.

2. Skybridge

The SkyBridge is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world, hanging at 100 meters from the top of Mt. Machincang. The SkyCab only takes you as far as the viewing decks. From there you have to take a precarious walk to reach the SkyBridge.

Plan on reaching early if you wish to visit the SkyBridge as it closes at 5 pm. The walk is pretty scary as there’s just a railing between you and the abyss below. But for the adventure-lovers, this is delightful. If you stay till sundown, you’ll get to see a beautiful sight as the SkyBridge gets engulfed in a rapidly advancing fog.

3. Tanjung Rhu

Tanjung Rhu is famed to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Wherever you stay in Langkawi, make sure you spend a day at this gorgeous beach. The best part about it is that it isn’t crowded. It’s quiet, calm, peaceful, and serene. If you’re looking for some solitude, this is the place to be.

4. Cenang Beach

Cenang Beach is another popular beach in Langkawi famous for its water sports. The best time to go there is towards the evenings so you can watch the sunset. As soon as it does, the area around lights up like Christmas time. There are a bunch of restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat or have a drink. Live music and the beautifully lit cafes make for a perfect evening.

5. Dataran Lang

Dataran Lang is also known as the Eagle Square owing to the beautifully carved statue of an Eagle which is iconic of Langkawi. The area where it is situated is called Kuah town. It is one of the busiest centers on the island and has great options for shopping and food.

If you’re comfortable riding a two-wheeler, rent one at Langkawi as this is the best way to get around. These are easily available everywhere and you’ll get to enjoy your tour of the island even more on private transport.
